Spring has finally arrived here in the UK, and it feels like the whole country is breathing a sigh of relief. This new season seems fitting to talk about something personal: my ADHD diagnosis. We talked about this in our recent webinar with Dan Hudson (watch back here!) and whilst I’m still coming to terms with it, I’ve realised that ADHD has significantly shaped my life in ways I’m deeply grateful for.

Looking back, many incredible moments happened precisely because of my ADHD traits:

  • I once left a fantastic job to pursue my passion for music. It paid off—we got signed, released music, and played Reading Festival a few times.
  • Having a baby with someone I hardly knew, who’d just relocated 200 miles away, turned into an amazing, lasting relationship with three wonderful children.
  • Moving spontaneously to sunny Brighton opened the door to my very first job in communications and engagement.

Yet, ADHD isn’t without challenges. Daily life can be difficult—I regularly lose my phone, I’m often running late, and I wrestle with anxiety and overthinking. Thankfully, I’ve found a powerful ally in artificial intelligence.

My journey with AI started a few years ago when curiosity led me to explore ChatGPT. Now, AI tools like Co-pilot are indispensable in managing my previously chaotic inbox. Gone are the days of losing important emails or missing essential tasks. Co-pilot quickly organises, summarises, and highlights the information I need, drastically improving my productivity.

At People Lab and The EX Space, we’re passionate about leveraging AI to enhance the human experience at work. We’re actively helping organisations use AI in internal comms, learning and development, and employee engagement. If you’re interested, we’ve shared some great resources at www.theexspace.com.

If you’d like to hear more about the exciting potential of AI in internal communications, join our upcoming webinar, “Internal Comms Reimagined: AI-powered, People-first, Consumer-grade,” featuring Tarek Kamil, CEO of Cerkl. We’ll discuss how AI can revolutionise the way we connect with employees.
