National Work Life Week – a round-up of our best blogs to help you

Did you know that 10th – 14th October is National Work Life Week? It’s an annual campaign to highlight the importance of flexible and family-friendly practices in the workplace. The campaign is run by Working Families, a national charity with working parents at its heart.

We talk about working flexibly A LOT at People Lab. It’s something we’re passionate about and for us it’s a complete no-brainer. And yet, even after the pandemic, which proved beyond all doubt that employees can be trusted to work flexibly, not a week goes by when a high profile (often male) CEO talks about the need to get people back into the office/ place of work and how employees are less productive/ can’t be trusted when working elsewhere…

Part of the problem involves a very narrow view of what it means to work flexibly. It isn’t just about where you work, but when you work, and what you work on too. Flexibility comes in all shapes and sizes. And one of the key barriers to flexible working is mindset from line managers or more senior leaders. We need to help managers see that flexible working works!

We’ve written a lot about flexible working and hybrid over the years, so we thought we’d round up our best blogs on the subject to help you:

  1. How to design a hybrid working experience for a post covid world.
  2. Hybrid working 2.0 – where do we go from here
  3. How to help people feel like they belong in a hybrid working environment
  4. How to use neuroscience to design a hybrid experience to engage your people
  5. What an organisations approach to flexible working tells us about trust
  6. 5 tips for flexible working that actually work

We hope these blogs are a useful resource during National Work Life Week and beyond.
