We are absolutely delighted to share the news that two of our clients are finalists at this year’s UK Employee Experience Awards.
We love working with people who are passionate about improving the world of work, and want to create better employee experiences. We know it’s not always easy, so it’s fantastic to see their hard work being recognised.
So, who’s in the running?
KPMG – Employee Driven Business Change
KPMG wanted to modernise their approach to learning and development by putting their employees at the heart of what they do. This begins with genuinely understanding the people who work there; their needs, their wants and motivations – in order to deliver interventions which make a difference.
The team identified an opportunity to improve the experience of ‘overseas new joiners’ – so it was the perfect time to upskill the team on human-centred, EX Design, whilst working on a real ‘live’ challenge.
Over 20 recent overseas new joiners and other key stakeholders, came together to explore the current experience, map the pain points and joyous moments, share their vision for the future and co-create possible solutions to prototype and test…
This piece of work has now been used to re-design the new joiners experience, based on real employee insight, rather than assumptions of what ‘good’ looks like. And there was a huge added benefit that the process itself has brought this community together for the first, so they feel more connected and empowered to collaborate in the future.
BAE Systems – Employee Centric Company and Team of the Year
We’re so proud of the team at BAE Systems, who’ve been on an incredible journey since we started working with them in 2021, and have subsequently become finalists for two of these prestigious awards.
The team understand that EX is not a rebrand of HR, but a fundamental need to do things differently. They already had a brilliant employee voice team in place, but they realised voice alone was not enough – they wanted to truly understand their people, step into their shoes and appreciate how they feel. So, working with People Lab they ran an in-depth listening and research programme across the whole organisation. We then used the insights gathered to create a set of behavioural employee personas. This means that now when they design an employee touchpoint or experience, they can use the personas to step into their shoes of the people they are designing for and understand things from their perspective.
But that wasn’t all! We worked with them to use the insights to create a new, company wide EX and engagement strategy. This involved agreeing EX design principles, and creating an EX playbook, expanding and upskilling the team. It also involved identifying ‘EX-custodians’ throughout the organisation and developing a community of practice to help design and deliver great experiences across BAE Systems.
It really is amazing how much they’ve already achieved, and we’re excited to see what’s next for this team.
We’d like to take the opportunity to wish both KMPG and BAE Systems the best of luck as they move forward to the final, which takes place in April, followed by the awards ceremony in May. You can see the full list of finalists here.
