Employee Engagement Report: The Results Are In!
Unexpected great things can happen when you meet new people!
People Lab’s Emma met The App Garden’s Martin at SMiLE London, and got chatting about technology in the workplace. Emma and Martin must have had a particularly good old chin-wag, as an idea to conduct some research and produce a report combining People Lab’s employee engagement knowledge, and App Garden’s technical wizardry was born.
A short time later, created in partnership, was the short but sweet Technology in Employee Engagement Survey.
I’m sure we are all aware that social media has become an increasingly important feature within our lives. However, a report published by the CIPD in 2014 (Putting Social to Work) found that whilst 76% of UK employees now use social media within their personal lives, only 26% use it professionally and just 18% have a specific ESN platform.
This highlights the gap between companies adopting externally facing social media and internal ESN.

Our findings suggest that social media is certainly not going anywhere, it’s only going to get bigger. Using social media within our companies and organisations makes sense, it allows easy communication, collaboration and therefore, better engagement!
