I’m off to the Future of Work conference in London next week (Weds 11th October). I absolutely love the opportunity to hear from other practitioners and thought leaders on the latest developments in employee experience and employee engagement. And my old friend David McLeod is kicking the day off with a keynote on the key forces shaping the world of work.
I first heard David speak at a CIPD conference many years ago, when I was setting up People Lab, and he was putting Engage for Success together. It was one of those serendipitous moments; I happened to sit next to David, we got chatting and he invited me to join the Engage for Success movement at the outset. In fact, People Lab research featured in the first report to government on employee engagement all those years ago and it was the beginning of a wonderful partnership. This is one of the things I miss most about in-person events, those chance conversations that can change your life. Which is one of the reasons I’m looking forward to the conference and the brilliant conversations I already know I’m going to have.
The brilliant Riffat Ahmed from Bupa is also delivering a keynote on employee experience design for the digital workplace. Riffat is someone I first met when we judged the EX Awards together and we now work together on the awards steering group. And I always love hearing about the fantastic work Bupa are doing in this space. The agenda is packed with what I know will be thought-provoking sessions on a wide range of topics. And the best bit?
