The EX Files Live: The journey towards a great employee experience at The British Red Cross

In early 2020, just before the COVID pandemic took hold, the British Red Cross – a humanitarian charity that forms an integral part of the international Red Cross and Red Crescent movement – embarked on a journey to improve the experience of its 4,000 employees and 13,000 volunteers.

With a specific ambition to ‘create a better employee experience’ forming part of its new 10 year strategy, EX had the explicit backing of the top team and work soon began to deliver on this commitment.

But – as this illuminating EX Files case study shows – driving positive change in a large, complex, 150 year-old organisation isn’t always quick or easy – it requires flexibility, self-reflection, guerrilla tactics and dogged determination to succeed!

We’re delighted to be joined by Sam Whitwham, People Experience Manager, and Laura Ewell, Senior Service Designer, from the British Red Cross, who will share some of the highlights of their journey so far towards great EX.

🚀 Key Takeaways:

  • The role of EX as connectors – hear how an enhanced focus on employees has helped join-the-dots between more than 60 live internal projects
  • The power of storytelling and how new tools have helped visualise journey pain points.
  • Why it pays to identify and involve influencers and champions early on
  • How they set about building a dedicated People Experience Team
  • How ‘lighting small fires’ has helped embed a more human-centric approach to service design across the organisation

A rare ‘real world’ case study focused on a large, complex organisation; this session will inspire you to find new ways to make a difference to your employee experience. We really hope you’ll join us for invaluable insights, strategies, and lessons learned.
