Want to take a human-centred approach to employee experience? Then start with personas

To design and deliver compelling experiences, we must first truly understand our people, their needs, their wants, and their motivations. And this involves way more than a regular employee survey and a handful of focus groups. We need to uncover detailed insights about our people, which enable us to build a rich picture of who they really are. This is where employee personas come in.

Personas have come a long way in the last few years. From being based in demographics, to being based in behaviours and motivations. Done well, behavioural personas provide a rich picture of our people, built on data, that include nuances and attributes. They should enable us quickly and easily step into the shoes of the people we are designing for. And most critically they help us to overcome assumptions and bias about what a great experience involves and how to get there.

Creating behavioural personas is a fundamental part of taking a human-centred approach to EX. But it’s what you then do with your personas that really makes the difference.

We use a simple ‘empathy map’ to apply persona insights to experiences design. An empathy map guides you through a series of questions to help you step into the shoes of your people, and understand what they might be thinking, feeling, saying, doing, seeing and hearing – as well as uncover pain points and needs.

How to create employee personas, and then actually use them, is a topic we’re asked about all the time. So the next webinar from The EX Space is going to focus on exactly this. We have designed and used personas with many clients over the years (and some of them might even make a guest appearance!), so this webinar is a great opportunity to share our experience and learning with you give you the opportunity to ask your questions.

In this webinar you’ll discover how employee personas are the key to unlocking better experiences for your people.

We’ll look at:
