One question we‘re often asked is ‘how do we compare to other organisations?’. This is understandable; your survey results are in and you want to know how you stack up against the competition. This is where benchmarking comes in.
However, the lack of standardised definitions of employee experience and engagement makes it tricky to benchmarking. Even using a benchmark provided by your survey supplier (if you use one) is not without its problems. BUT if you understand the limitations, and don’t get too hung up on the numbers, it can be a useful tool.
- Look at trends and see the bigger picture.
- Use a range of different data points to understand how your organisation compares to get richer insights.
- And remember, don’t just rely on the benchmark of the survey company you happen to use.
For the first time we have teamed up with our friends at The EX Space to publish a Benchmarking Report which collates benchmarks, and other measures, from the world of employee engagement and experience.
All the data is in the public domain, but our report shares it in one place to save you hours of research. In the report we also share the pros and cons of benchmarking and how to make it work for you.
In addition, our report details some well-known models and approaches to employee engagement and employee experience – in summary, the report will provide you with the latest data, and help you to demystify the dark art of benchmarking.
