This month, we are very excited to welcome Elin to the People Lab team. Here’s a quick Q&A, so you can find out a bit more about her…

What’s your background?

I worked for 10 years in marketing for the Swedish government, but based in the UK. I worked with a wide variety of clients and projects during that time with people and teams around the world. I found that working with an engaged group of people always produced the best quality projects with the happiest clients. During my time at the company, I got increasingly involved with people and change, and I found this area of work so rewarding and interesting. This sparked a career change for me where I decided to go back to university to do a master’s degree.

You’re just completing your MSc in Organisational Psychology – can you tell us more about that?

Of course! Organisational Psychology is an exciting field – it is all about understanding human behaviour at work and improving working life that allows people to thrive and flourish. I have studied topics such as positive psychology, selection and assessment, work design and organisational change, employee wellbeing, leadership development, coaching, career development and training. I have a special interest in mental resilience and I am currently writing my dissertation in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, looking into the drivers of mental resilience during Royal Marine recruit training. As the world of work is constantly changing, organisations are increasingly interested in knowing how to better equip people to cope with changes and challenges they face.

What do you like doing outside work?

I love travelling and cooking, but these days I spend most of my time running after my 2.5 year old daughter. I also volunteer for a mental health charity where I deliver training on a regular basis and I am a mentor for the Career Ready charity that helps young people get ready for the world of work through developing their professional skills.

Finally, why did you join People Lab?

Research shows us that engaged employees perform better, feel happier and ultimately do a better job for organisations that affects the bottom line. I love People Lab’s innovative approach of using positive psychology and seeing the results they achieve for clients made me really excited to join such a fantastic team. I am looking forward to learning more about employee engagement in practice from the top experts in the field.
