Employee experience, culture and org values – join the global research programme

Culture is one of the most significant influences on employee experience. If culture is how things are done in an organisation, experience is how people feel about how things are done. While culture is sometimes described as an invisible glue that holds everything together, its all-pervading influence also makes it hard to detect. As a consequence, it is even harder to get to grips with and work with.

We believe organisational values are a really useful gateway for thinking about, talking about, evaluating and yes, even changing, organisational culture.

But values get a bad rap. And for a multitude of reasons – from the fact they can be seen as intangible and wishy washy; to a discrediting of the validity of values through poorly conceived and limited comms-only approaches to embedding values.

For values to be meaningful, they need to be way more than a communications campaign. Although communication does breathe life into culture, it can’t on its own change or maintain a culture (or prevent it going bad). Whether it’s using values as a way to steer a new cultural course to support a changing business strategy, or as a way to sustain a culture as an organisation grows, efforts need to be wide-ranging and ongoing.

Last year FathomXP conducted its first research programme looking at the power, role and responsibility of organisational values. You can see the report here.

This year the team is running a second research programme to dig deeper into how organisations discover, articulate, communicate and embed their values. And the impact this has (as well as how this is measured).

This is a global piece of research and your input would be incredibly valuable. It takes 6 minutes to complete the survey which closes on Monday, July 24th at 9am BST. Please do take a moment to share your views here:https://bit.ly/orgvalues23

As a thank you, you will be invited to a special webinar in September sharing the results and be among the first to receive the 2023 Values Report.
